How to change permalink structures in wordpress
If you have already assimilated my previous post Best permalink structures and want to change yours, you can follow these 5 simple steps. I’ve attached a screenshot, which will make it as easy as a pie.
Step 1: Login into your wordpress admin panel
Step 2: Click Options > Permalinks
Step 3: Choose “custom”
Step 4: If you have decided your permalink structure, type it in the blank provided or copy, paste this structure. /%category%/%pastname%/
Step 5: Click “update permalink structure”.
Woohoo. A great step to lure the googlebot. (“A 3 year old kid looking at a cookie jar in the kitchen” as Carlocab calls it).
Best permalink structure

I tried various permutations and combinations with permalink structures and finally short-listed the top three best permalink structures (as per my analytical reasoning).
What are permalinks?
The link (url) for each blog post you write. Ex:- In a html web site, the url of a contact page, could be www.yourdomain.com/contact.htm. In a wordpress blog, a url will be created for each blog post automatically (called as a permalink). By dafault the structure looks like “www.yourdomain.com/?p=N”. If you are trying hard to comprehend that url, guess how the googlebot would like it.
So among the first few things you need to do when you have installed wordpress is to change the permalink structure.
Top 3 permalink structures
/%category%/%postname%/: As is evident, this will show the category of the post and the name of the post from your post slug. (If you are tagging a post in more than one category avoid category or googlebot will be confused as to which category the post belongs.
/%catagory%/%postid%/%postname%/: If you are proud of your post count, and like to showoff, then add %postid%. You can please only humans with this tag.
/%postname%/: This is the best structure, if you are a microniche blogger and appropriate title writer. This will keep your url short and coherent.
Popular adversary permalink structure tags are /%year%/, /%month%/, /%day%/. Googlebot hates dates in the urls.
As we all are well aware of, the spider we are talking about here is the busiest and most sensitive spider in the whole world. It can sniff ‘gobbledegook’ a mile away.

How I Schedule Myself?
Just like millions of other netpreneurs, I do hundreds of things each day. It gets so difficult to manage my time as a work at home mom.
I’m a web & graphic designer, template designer, online business consultant for a few companies.
This is how I scheduled myself. First I divided my major tasks and assigned a day in the week to each of them.
- Designer’s Monday
- Coder’s Tuesday
- Launcher’s Wednesday
- Blogger’s Thursday
- Marketer’s Friday
- Publisher’s Saturday
- Browser & Brain Stormer Sunday
I’ll design templates on monday, code them on tuesday, launch them on wednesday, blog about them on thursday, market them on product display sites on friday, write articles & ezines and all that writing and publishing stuff on saturday, browse around and brain storm on sunday (with family
). Sounds like a nursery rhyme?
I have few more things I HAVE to do everyday (like VA, web maintenance etc), so haven’t included those here. This schedule constitutes only half of each day (practically speaking).
How do you manage your time?
Top 15 things to include in a blogger’s daily schedule
1) Write to-do list and stick to it
2) Write a piece of article (not less than 200 words)
3) SEO tweaks
4) Forum posts (Min 5)
5) Post comments on other blogs (Min 5)
6) Find more products
7) Read from RSS lists
Social networking
9) Market or advertise your blog/ website
10) Reply promptly to comments on your blog
11) Learn, Read, Browse around
12) Brainstorm for great ideas
13) Check if you complied with schedule
14) Spend Quality time with family
15) Take care of your Health (food, exercise, sleep & beauty)

Resale rights explained
If you have been in online business for even a little while now, its pretty possible that you came across the term resale rights. what are resale rights and what can you do with them?
Many ebooks and pieces of software, especially in the field of online or internet marketing, are sold with resell rights included. It is therefore necessary to distinguish between normal resell rights and master resell rights.
Most resale rights packages will not let you alter any of its content or in any way change/tamper with the information. Always read the disclaimers surrounding them. If you wanted to change the content you would have to contact the author and request a partnership or buy the editing rights to the product.
Resale Rights:
After you buy the item you will be allowed to sell it to your customers. There may be limitations, like that you can only sell the product for a specific price.
Master Resale Rights:
When you acquire master resell rights, not only can you sell it to your customers, but your customers also have the rights to sell it. You can also sell master resell rights to your customers, so they too can sell resell and master resell rights.
Private Label
With private label resell rights, you may not only resell the product but you may also edit the content or product and claim it as your own work (you will be the owner).
Rebranding
With rebranding resell rights, you may replace the author links with yours. That is in addition to your normal resell rights.
To find the best resale right products with master resale rights, you must visit this site. You will encouter products for incredibly low prices. Some times as low as $0.01 or even $0.00. (Don’t forget to check the bargains section. You might find a good pick). Have fun.
Why I chose godaddy to host all my websites?
Since I purchased my 1st domain at godaddy back in 2004, I didn’t knock any other door to buy domain or hosting space. I’ve been extremely happy with what I get. Now I have 8 domains registered and hosted with them, and I recommend them to all my clients. This does not mean I haven’t had experience with others. The hell lot of trouble I ever had with any web host is with easyspace. I waste lot of my energy, time and money on them. (This will be only for another month, as I’m going to transfer 2 domains to godaddy, phew).
Godaddy Domains are priced anywhere between $1.99 to $9.99 per year. Check for latest prices on their website.

Checklist for a business plan
Ok. So you plan to start your business and need to develop a business plan. I’ve made up a checklist of the elements to be included in a Business Plan:
1. Your purpose. What exactly do you want to accomplish? What are your goals for your business?
2. Describe your business. What is your legal structure? When was it formed? Who owns and operates it?
3. Define your market. What are you going to sell? A product or service? Or both? You’ll want to describe exactly what is going to be sold. Is there a need for your product or service? Who are you selling to? Why will your business have a competitive edge over other businesses?
4. Explain how you intend to meet those needs. How will you produce the product/service? How will your customers receive your goods?
5. Define your staff, or suppliers, if any.
6. Make a time table. Do you expect to reach a certain goal in a specific amount of time?
7. Calculate and State Your Financial Requirements clearly
8. How much capital will it cost you to get the materials you need to start-up? Give detailed information about how the capital will be spent.
Licenses or fees?
Advertising?
Operate your business until you see a profit?
Deliver your product or service?
Subcontractors?
Pay staff?
Workout a plan that’s not too easy and not too challenging. A realistic plan.
Wish you all success
